Spent casings pool, and blood puddles, in the foreboding trenches,
The floral decorations border sunny park benches.
Ducking and weaving, taking cover as the glass borders bullet holes,
And pure white milk cascades, into sugary cereal bowls.
Crawling in fear, amidst fields of crimson barbed wires,
Yarn in hand, running the park with fellow kite-flyers.
Grimy stretchers, wincing at the sting of the stitches,
Taking a look and finding a shiny new dollar, once lost in roadside ditches.
Rusty trench knife, frantic radio calls, land-mine gardens,
Budding young life, soup-stain overalls, fresh new kindergartens,

Nobody can see this hidden war,
Where the rich own the rights to the poor,
And corruption rots us all to the core,
Ignore it, lock it up behind the closed door,
Say we're fine 'till we hit the floor,
All our humanity and morals, from our minds they were torn.
While million dollar jets flying, shipping around the rich,
Impoverished kids are dying, so why do we keep paying those,
That don't need it, 'cause it's time, to cure the global itch,
We'll never admit, even while our own blood flows.
Guess we're gonna just hang on tight, watch the train derail,
Still we refuse to fight, just dig our graves and sit six feet under,

I didn't pay attention to the taste of your kiss, the flavor of heartless,
Pretended nothing was amiss, in the darkness,
Even now as I write this, still letting myself grimly reminisce,
From the start I always had a good enough guess, but I didn't stop it's progress.
And I realize today, I should've pulled myself away, and not let my mind decay and my thoughts stray
Because now you've cut me off from the project,
The project and the pain and the pride and the power and the picture,
The picture, cut outta the frame, put in the flame, and split, from my claim to fame,
Fame, futile and I'll fight this, fright-full in a night full

Watch them flee, as he tears this city apart,
Is he on a rampage, or just searching for his heart?
No one knows, everyone goes, avoiding the carnage in his wake,
Only his rage shows, no one sees the tear flows, just feel the earth's shake.
Everyone angered and scared, it's a terrifying monstrosity,
Shock 'n' awe they all stared, brought to their knees by sheer ferocity,
Such a shocking new threat, evacuate and avoid the plague,
Understanding won't be met, the monsters intentions are vague.
Against the attack, he knows what he's looking for, searches for her,
But this isn't Hollywood, things never turn out the way they should,

Solitary, the determined man marches across the earth, this land of scorched hearth,
In the war he proved his worth, been a soldier at heart ever since his birth.
Couple dozen years have passed, since he lost his friend, it all happened too fast,
But that's in the past, he'd say his resolve is steeled but it's just glassed.
Ready to shatter, composure equivalent to something of brittle matter,
His teeth chatter, the hardships of such a life never flatter.
Blame it on the cold, but that's just a lie to hide a story, still unfortunately untold,
Not quite so very bold, 'cause there's a feeling he has, that his soul has been sold.

I guess, when the two of us met, I was a bit hesitant,
But the midnight talks and hour-long walks, 'till we were just like family,
A new idol, yet in my comfort I never knew what it meant,
In my newfound content I'd never see just what you were poised to do to me.
Slowly and subtly so I didn't see it, things here changed,
You had a plan here all along, you wanted to take control,
I saw soon but I'd never understand, tell myself maybe you were deranged...
So I hold on, didn't fight back while you put me in this submissive role.
Subliminal, now I can feel this disruptive change in the flow,
This divide, set you a step up over me, in th
